SDCC San Diego Comic Con: Volunteer Info is in!

sdccLogo.pngSDCC San Diego Comic Con Volunteer Program details, straight off the presses:

“Beginning at 10:00 am Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Wednesday January 27, 2016, online volunteer registration for Comic-Con International 2016 will be open to our PRIORITY VOLUNTEERS (those who completed at least one assignment in 2015 or were pre-approved by the Volunteer Dept.).  You are one of our priority volunteers.

Instructions: Beginning at 10:00 am PST on January 27, 2016, you may log into your Member ID, click on the “VOLUNTEERING” tab and you will see the link for online volunteer registration. Click on the link and follow the instructions. As usual, you’ll get an email confirmation at the end of the registration process. The 2016 Volunteer Orientation packet will be attached to the email confirmation.

Only those on our priority list will be able to see the link when they log in to their Member ID.  You will have from 10:00 am PST January 27, 2016 until 3:00 pm PST February 5, 2016 to sign up to volunteer. You are guaranteed to get into the volunteer program for 2016 during this time period.  At a later date, we will open online volunteer registration to those on the Interest List to fill any remaining slots. Once we reach our limit, we will close the volunteer program and there will be no further opportunities to register to volunteer for 2016.

Hope to see you in 2016!”

Last year the Volunteer Program filled up in 3 minutes. I was still able to sign up, even in those 3 minutes, and also the site crashed during that time, and I still succeeded.

Be ready before the start time, use Chrome browser if you can. Close out all other windows, no downloads, uploads or anything else playing in the background, like Pandora or Youtube. For fastest, safest, results, reset the browser an hour before. Reset the modem and router an hour before. Be ready at your computer at start time, with no other distractions. These are the keys to success I use to register for the Volunteer Program, purchase regular badges (tickets), parking spaces, Hotelpocalypse or anything else Epic Waiting Room or SDCC San Diego Comic Con related. Good Luck!

Dark Supergirl revealed on tonight’s Supergirl!

supergirl_darksupergirl

Maxwell Lord, at the end of the episode, revealed several important things. First, we learn where Red Tornado‘s missing arm went; I actually thought it was just a plot error, oversight by the writers.

Next we see Maxwell Lord walk past Red Tornado’s arm (hologram display), to a brain dead “patient,” that, not surprisingly looks a lot like Kara / Supergirl. Next, we see an IV of black liquid, then her eyes open, revealing black eyes. Is this Dark Supergirl?

In the DC comics, Darkseid gives Lex Luthor Black Kryptonite, which he then modifies in his Battle Suit & beams Supergirl with it, in hopes to control her. What actually happens, is that the Black Kryptonite beam splits Supergirl into two Supergirls, all of Kara Zor-el’s rage and darkness is now another Kryptonian, a dangerous Dark Supergirl with no limits and no holding back. The kind, good-hearted superheroine Supergirl remains in the original Supergirl body.

Dark_Supergirl.jpg It appears as if Maxwell Lord has found a way to create Kryptonians, at least temporarily. Did Maxwell Lord find and/or create Black Kryptonite? Did Maxwell Lord create Dark Supergirl? Or did he just retro-engineer technology from Red Tornado’s arm and make Bizzaro Supergirl? We will find out next week.

Other sci fi movies released in 2015 (for rental and streaming streaming, at home on the couch, almost anything will do, and some are “must-sees” for at home streaming, but would be unrewarding watching on the big screen):

Hot Tub Time Machine 2

Vice

The worst sci-fi / superhero movie of 2015

Character-Banner.jpgThe Fantastic Four (Rotten Tomatoes gave it a whopping 4% rotten rating; even ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’ received a better rating. Josh Trank may be out of a job due to this fiasco. ‘Fantastic Four’ started out as a poor movie, not true to the comic books or the characters and was made worse by the movie company, 20th century fox, in an attempt to make it better. fail all the way around. do not rent or netflix, trust me, you would be better off, as a person, to watch ‘Spider-man, The Musical’).

Jupiter Ascending (actually, the latest film (and maybe the last film, because this one was so bad) theatrical release from the Wachowskis, would have been ok if they would have edited out most of the slow parts, keeping all the action, and editing it down to 1 1/2 hours, but as is, it’s way too long and boring, and really you end up not caring at all for the characters, especially after too many reverse plot twists).

Pixels (I remember a time, in the not too distant past, when Adam Sandler movies were actually enjoyable, fun and even funny. Peter Dinklage, whatcha doin’ in this movie?).
