#TeenTitans #TheJudasContract #movie #review #Terra & more..

teen-titans-the-judas-contract-cast-600x338-227248-1280x0This animated film is very well done and continues in the same universe as ‘Son of Batman’ and ‘Justice League vs Teen Titans.’ Not for all ages cartoon, due to cursing and violence. ‘Teen Titans: The Judas Contract’ is an adapted version on the 1984 comic of the same name, with a few tweaks to the story that fit with the characters & current Teen Titans team. It helps to have a solid base for the characters and build-up to the story, ‘The Judas Contract,’ otherwise this film might seem a bit out of place. It seems incomplete to have a great story about the Teen Titans and not to have Cyborg. Limited research showed that this was due to Warner Bros wanting to have Cyborg solely associated with The Justice League for the upcoming live-action movie than with the animated Teen Titans. Cyborg has appeared in this animated film universe before, like ‘JusticeLeague: Doom’ & ‘Teen Titans vs Justice League’ movies, but as a member of The Justice League. So I guess Warner Bros have decided Cyborg is Justice League only, which is too bad, because he is such a crucial member of Teen Titans. ‘The Judas Contract’ story first appeared in animation on the ever popular Teen Titans cartoon, which is still a great, light-hearted series.

Terra_09My main problem with this animated feature was the Terra storyline. It felt wildly inappropriate to have a young teenager (13?), Terra, wanting to date a 55 year-old man, Deathstroke; I just felt weirded out with every scene. Were they actually sleeping together? Did I miss that? Even creepier, WTF DC? But I guess since it was in the comics it makes it somehow OK? Nope, still not OK.

(Spoilers) Towards the end, it would have been nice to see Terra turn around & attack Slade, motivated by her own moral compass, saving the Titans at the last moment, instead of solely acting out of revenge, focusing only on killing Deathstroke, all while not caring for the well being of The Titans at all. She could have at least made them a tunnel to the surface, protecting the Titans from the collapsing underground cavern Temple of the Brother Blood Cult. Also, there was no clear explanation of how exactly The Titans escaped this disaster.

maxresdefault (1)Deathstroke returns (spoiler) as the main villain. You may remember he was killed by Damian at the end of ’Son of Batman,’ which was poorly done, by the way. Deathstroke shot at Damien several times, from just 20 feet away, and missed every time! In the comics, Deathstroke, with the help of the serum, gave him metahuman abilities, like shooting The Flash in the knee, as Barry was running full speed. There’s absolutely no reason Deathstroke should have missed at such close range. Anyway, Deathstroke has since been revived from the dead, with the use of Lazarus Pits, and appears in this animated film to exact his revenge on Damien. I think it would have been easier to have just shot Damien with a sniper rifle, but Slade chose an elaborate plan, with years of preparation, bringing the rest of the Titans down at the same time, all while getting paid for it by Brother Blood instead.

asdStarfire was, again, over sexualized & it is a bit odd, that the leader of the Titans, Starfire/Kori, no longer lives in the Tower; seems like bad leadership skills, which was a recurring theme in this film.

pre_TitansIt was great to see Bumble Bee in the beginning flashback sequence and it’s exciting that Wonder Girl, Donna Troy, will be joining The Titans in future DC animated movies (spoilers).

Wonder_Girl_Donna_Troy3CONCLUSION: ’Teen Titans: The Judas Contract’ was a good film & you should WATCH IT; I just wish Terra’s storyline was better crafted. IMPORTANT NOTE: There’s an end credit scene, so watch through the credits.

Who is #DanielWest ? #TheFlash season3 villain REVEALED!! #BlackFlash #BlackRacer

DannyWest1

The Flash season 3 villain has been revealed, Danny West (from DC Comics). With the ending season 2 of The Flash, DC Comics superhero television show on the CW,  we saw two very important things setting the stage for season3, the mention of Earth3, and Flashpoint (also Black Flash, but we’ll get to that later). Earth 3 deserves a mention, as it is the Earth where the good guys are bad, the Justice League is now the Crime Syndicate, with The Flash as Johnny Quick. In The Flash season3 finale, we learn the true identity of The Man in the Iron Mask is actually a new speedster, the real Jay Garrick, who is from Earth3. No doubt we will see more of Earth 3 in season 3 of The Flash. The last few minutes of The Flash season2 finale, we see Barry Allen, using the Speed Force, to go back in time and save his mother from being killed by Reverse Flash, Eobard Thawne, who then wore the face of Harrison Wells and set in motion the plot for the first two seasons. In the DC comics realm, when Barry Allen goes back in time to save his mother, Barry inadvertantly reconfigures the events and characters of the entire world, to where Batman is now Thomas Wayne (Bruce & Martha were killed in that alley by Joe Chill, instead of Thomas & Martha Wayne), Wonder Woman and The Amazons have invaded Europe and Aquaman and The Atlanteans have waged war on humanity and begin an invasion of Europe (It was Reverse Flash’s (Professor Zoom in the comics) plan all along. (warning, spoiler alert if you haven’t read the comics. ‘Flashpoint’ is one of the top 10 DC comics series of all time, so read it, if you haven’t already). We, of course, wont see all that in The Flash season 3, but we will see Barry, The Flash, navigating an alternate timeline of events and characters, struggling to reset the timeline, even if it means allowing his mother and father to be killed. We saw some of that conflict in season 1, where Barry resolves not to reset the past, but I guess The Flash writers just borrowed from Arrow character’s flip-flop motivations.

As we see, in the set photo above, by Canadagraphs, The Flash villain costume looks just like Daniel West. Who is Danny West? During an accident with The SpeedForce monorail, Iris West’s brother, and/or cousin, gains speedster powers. Daniel West adds fragments of the Speed Force Monorail to his costume, acting as armor and giving him additional powers. Daniel West, as Iris’ brother version, is responsible for paralyzing their father. This alienates Iris, which Daniel laments, as he attempts to go back in time to kill their father, in hopes (weird) to win the heart of his sister(no, not Jaime-Cersi weird, just sibling caring). Later, in DC comics fashion, Daniel West is rebooted, via the New 52, as just another story arc for Wally West.

In true CW storyline style, The Flash season 3 will change the comics enough to keep the viewers guessing, like rebooting the Central City timeline with Eddie still alive, Iris putting Barry back in the friend zone and combining Black Flash and Black Racer (see below) in varied ways. Consider the above for The Flash season3 plot spoilers, as well as adding Earth3 “heroes,” actually villains (does that include the true Jay Garrick from Earth 3? probably) into the mix, and don’t forget Jesse Quick, Harrison Wells’ daughter, now equipped with Speed Force powers, and you have an exciting nest season of The Flash. If you are not caught up on season 1 & 2 of The Flash, Netflix made a recent deal with The CW for exclusive viewing of CW television shows, where geek meets television.

Season 3 of The Flash will also introduce villain/character with a similar costumed superhero suit, The Black Flash. The Black Flash appears when a speedster is about to die and reclaims their Speed Force. We saw a glimpse of Black Flash, when Hunter Zoloman Zoom was attacked by the Time Wraiths (those ghosts, like Harry Potter Dementors, that reclaim individuals who abuse the time travel using the Speed Force. Yes, Barry Allen did that, but it was just really convenient, plot-wise, for the Time Wraiths to only attack Zoom). As the Time Wraiths attack and grab Zoom, his costume and face change. Many viewers thought it was just a disintegration of human flesh as a consequence from being touched by the Time Wraiths, but really it is the appearance of Black Flash reclaiming the Speed Force as Hunter Zoloman dies. Yes, we will see more of Black Flash in season 3 of The Flash.

black-flash-dc-comics

The Black Flash is an amalgam of Black Racer and The Flash. After Jack Kirby left Marvel, due to a superhero character rights dispute with Stan Lee, he went to DC Comics and went on to create many prime characters in the DC Universe. One of these character was Black Racer, a paraplegic Vietnam vet, named Willie Walker (odd choice of names don’t you think?), who became merged with Death itself, equipped with cosmic skis and ski poles; yes Black Racer is very similar to the Silver Surfer, whom Jack Kirby also created. Modern depictions of Black Racer have him wearing cooler cosmic boots & staves, instead of skis and ski poles. Also to note that Darkseid was the first to merge Black Racer with a corporal form. The Black Racer has had many hosts, including Mr Miracle. Much later, The Anti-Monitor merged Black Racer with Barry Allen / The Flash as a successful attempt to kill Darkseid. Black Flash remained and now reclaims the Speed Force whenever a Speedster dies, like a superhero version of the Law of Conservation. We will most likely see Black Racer posses Wally West in The Flash season 3.

I’m still expecting to see Barry Allen’s twin brother Cobalt Blue, Malcome Thawne, separated at birth and raised by the vindictive, future enemy of The Flash, Eobard Thawne, but we may have to wait for a season 3 finale plot twist for that. I keep tweeting The Flash writers and producers with this story arc, so it may still happen. The Flash writers are uber secretive, but they have inadvertently revealed that they have mapped out story arcs for future seasons. Looking forward to more Team Flash.

Supergirl-The Flash crossover is real!! Thanks to Twitter & Greg Berlanti

CBS-Supergirl‘The Flash’ – ‘Supergirl’ crossover will actually happen, despite all the discounting from top CBS executives when the ‘Supergirl’ series was first announced and their continued downplay, even responding with statements like “That is ridiculous,” and “There will never be a crossover between the two shows, there aren’t even on the same network.”

the_flash_lightningThis is one case where Twitter shines. As soon as CBS announced it’s ‘Supergirl’ series, fans responded everywhere on social media, especially twitter, with inquiries and requests for a crossover. Some popular geek and comic book blogs even mapped out the possibilities: The Flash and Supergirl are obviously both in the DC comic universe and  Time -Warner owns both CBS and The CW networks, so in theory, it was always possible. Greg Berlanti, producer and co-creator of all things DC on television, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, listened to fans and the never ending tweets and started work on the crossover. Do you have any other thoughts of ideas for the DC comic book universe on television? tweet to Greg Berlanti @GBerlanti or to the writers of ‘The Flash,’ @FLASHtvwriters @CW_TheFlash, ‘Arrow,’ @CW_Arrow @ARROWwriters, ‘Legends of Tomorrow,’ @LoTWritersRoom @TheCW_Legends or to ‘Supergirl’ @SupergirlStaff @supergirlcbs.

‘The Flash’ – ‘Supergirl’ crossover will take place on Monday March 28 on an episode on ‘Supergirl.’

Supergirl Pilot! You can watch it Right Now! (or wait ’til November) Supergirl episode One leaked online!

The Supergirl pilot episode leaked online today. the episode was slated to be released with the series premiere in November, but somehow it showed up online this morning. original claims had said it was piracy or someone stole or hacked in and stole a copy, but current suspicions point to CBS leaking it on purpose to gain support for the Kryptonian Kara Zor-El. this is quite possibly true. when the extended Supergirl trailer released last week, the fans went crazy and it trended for more than 2 days on twitter.  CBS ordered the series without the usual process of screening/ testing the pilot. was CBS that confident to intentionally leak the Supergirl pilot online? apparently, the pilot that can be screened online from questionable sources, has no watermark, which suggests, but does not confirm, that the Supergirl pilot was intentionally leaked. a watermark is that semi-transparent “symbol” or “decal” denoting “CBS” or “for internal use only” or “for awards purposes only” or “for promotional use only” or similar, claiming the channel who created and aired the episode and that this version is not to be released to the public. incidentally, about the same time last year, the pilot/ episode 1 to The Flash was leaked online.

where can you watch the Supergirl pilot? there are some questionable streaming services that may contain viruses or you can pirate it using torrents, but watch the trailer, see how cool it is, then wait ’til November and support this great superhero show so we can have a full season of great superhero television; this will encourage networks to produce even more new superhero tv.

don’t forget to demand a crossover of ‘The Flash,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Legends of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Blackbirds’ (formerly called, ‘Titans,’ about DC comics ‘Teen Titans’ on TNT fall 2015) from @CBS @CW_TheFlash @CW_Arrow @supergirlcbs @TheCw_Legends (Legends of Tomorrow), Marc Guggenheim @mguggenheim (writer/producer/ creator) Greg Berlanti @GBerlanti (producer/ creator), Andrew Kreisberg @AJKeisberg (producer/ creator).

i love the trailer, and can’t wait for the series this November, i’m sure you will love it too.
