How Will Marvel Bring The XMen, The Fantastic Four & The Silver Surfer into the MCU?

wallpaper-1199506Well, I have some thoughts..

Invisible Woman by Artgem (aka Stanley Lau)

Invisible Woman by Artgem (aka Stanley Lau)

The simplest explanation is not always the most fun. Yes, you could say a school of mutants has always existed in West Chester, NY, but chose not to engage in any of the world threatening struggles– boring, (and also, very unlike the X-Men to ignore such threats). And the Baxter Building has been in the Microverse the whole time? –not buying it.

Captain Marvel by Artgem (aka Stanley Lau)

Captain Marvel by Artgem (aka Stanley Lau)

You could solve it easily with time travel, via the Infinity Gauntlet, with Captain Marvel resetting the entire universe, but one of things is not like the others– enter the XMen in an end credit trailer to the deafening screams of Marvel fans (I would be one of them), as Stan Lee begins reading a copy of the Daily Bugle with Fantastic Four on the front page. This is certainly scifi plausible and would be acceptable, but I have another theory..

What if..

..during the final battle with Thanos, Scarlet Witch alters reality with her magic, destroying the Infinity Stones, ceasing Thanos to have ever existed, but also inadvertently alters the reality of the universe. The previously vaporized superheroes return and BOOM the XMen now exist, and have always existed according to everyone, except Wanda. Wolverine, Rogue and SpiderWoman (Jessica Drew) are standing beside their teammates, the Avengers, The Fantastic Four can be seen far away atop the Baxter Building, and far, far away, the Silver Surfer makes a deal with Galactus to save Zenn-la.

Top 20 Best Zombie Movies & Top 5 TV Shows Recommended Watch Review List, for the Undead Apocalypse/ Zombies Fan

Even before the first zombie movie, ‘White Zombie,’ people have been obsessed with the undead; the once living, neighbors, friends, relatives, now reanimated and attempting to eat you alive. This concept may be overused in today’s culture, but it was once terrifying.

Creating a modern best of list is difficult, as “best,” to some, may mean scariest, but to others, it may mean cinematic, drama or even humorous. And to others still, it may mean general, quality movie standards of creative story telling and developed, transformative characters. This list will include all of the above and is a recommended watch list for anyone willing to see people eating other people.

TV, Top5  (– wait, are there more than 5?)

TWD2The Walking Dead‘ always deserves a mention in anything zombie, I mean, walkers, sorry Robert Kirkman. The first episode is still one of the best, created by Hollywood cinematographer, David Tatersall, and set the tone for the entire series. I wish AMC never fired him; the end of season 1 and the entirety of season could have been good. It got better, of course, and some of those episodes in season 5 and 6 were truly amazing. I personally feel, mid-Negan, the show has gone down hill and lost its appeal to many; (hoping it gets better). I spoke with Robert Kirkman, mid-season 6; he explained that ‘The Walking Dead’ is still in its first act of storytelling. Not sure how that will play out with Andrew Lincoln, ‘Rick,’ leaving the show. AMC will hang on to this show as long as possible, so maybe the overall plan is to realize the big picture story with additional spin-off series like the underwhelming ‘Fear The Walking Dead;’ just make a show about the beginning of the apocalypse, not ‘West Coast Walking Dead,’ it’s not CSI. I did, however, enjoy the brief ‘Flight 462,’ for the mere fact that you cannot escape walkers on a plane.

‘Z Nation’ is just not worth mentioning, aw crap, I mean besides now. Zombie baby, #noop.

izombie-4-sezon-ne-zaman-baslayacakCW’s ‘iZombie‘ is a happy-go-lucky tv series that is all fun and will get you to anticipate each entree Liv Moore creates in every episode. The moral of the series is don’t chase drugs with energy drinks. Or maybe it’s the living and the undead should never date?  Anyway, it’s nothing like the comic.

santa-clarita-diet-season-3-netflix-scheduleSanta Clarita Diet‘ is hysterical all the way through. (if you’re reading this from a time capsule, there are only 2 seasons so far, so I can’t speak for future seasons). What happens when a realtor, or real-a-tor, from the ‘burbs starts to crave human flesh? Does she eat her misogynistic neighbor?

Let’s get the comedy out of the way first..

220px-Life_After_Beth_poster   ‘Life After Beth.’ Aubry Plaza makes this film fun to watch. Unexplained zombie outbreak in suburbia.

Fido  Fido is like ‘Leave It To Beaver’ 50s style television, but with zombies, you’ll love it!

zombieland  Zombieland is a how-to guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse, with great rules to live by. Not only is it entertaining, but it’s a good film as well. I truly loved this movie.

shaun-dead.0.0  ‘Shaun of the Dead‘ is a masterful modern classic, with comedy only Edgar Wright can deliver, and overall, it’s a really good movie. Pulling the blind down to ignore the zombies was a classic scene. Also, setting the stage in the beginning, with people zoning out on the bus before the outbreak is genius. Watch and re-watch.

Drama, action, suspense & horror:

warmbodies   ‘Warm Bodies.’ If you can handle a “zo-mance,” where zombies fall in love and retain human-like qualities, with a happy ending, then this may be for you.

200px-Dodsno    ‘Dead Snow‘ (Norwegian, subtitles). Nazi zombies unearthed in Norway cause havoc. Gory action, with humor.

resident-evil-the-final-chapter-2560x1440-resident-evil-the-final-chapter-6270  ‘Resident Evil.’ The first one was clearly the best in the Milla Jovovich series, but every one is entertaining & promises the Umbrella Corporation, so cool in that regard. Yes, the game is better, but the movies will be rebooted soon and promise more Umbrella Corp, so I’ll be watching.

Rezort-Poster-27x39-copy2-Copy  ‘The Rezort.’  (I still believe ‘Last Rezort’ would have been a better title). A solid movie, with a concise a story, but rather generic. After the zombie outbreak, zombies were defeated, but not eradicated, just put on an island to shoot for recreation. It’s like Jurassic Park, but with zombies, what could go wrong?

HereAlone  ‘Here Alone.’ An indie zombie film. A woman accustomed to isolation in the woods, has her routine upended when she encounters a father and daughter. I liked how you heard the zombies throughout the film, knowing their presence was nearby, but only saw the creatures at the end.

World-war-z-poster03  ‘World War Z.’ Once bitten, you have 11 seconds before you turn. You can’t outrun the turned. If you do manage to escape into a large building, they’ll just pile themselves up a hundred feet high until they breach the building. I’m not spoiling anything am I? I feel like the plot was a little muddled, and it felt like the ending didn’t fit the rest of the film, but it did have some great scenes.

Cargo-Movie-poster  ‘Cargo‘ was a nice film about a man protecting his family. I feel like they traveled in circles the entire film. I enjoyed it, with great performances, but they didn’t follow their own zombie rules at the end.

‘I Am Legend.’ Nope, they were vampires. Yes, it was an apocalyptic movie, like ‘Stakeland,’ but, again, vampires, not zombies. The book had both ravenous zombie-like, flesh-eating vampires, as well as, civilized, societal vampires.

Maggie-review   ‘Maggie.’ Clearly the best acting performance of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s career. His daughter has been bitten and slowly turns. He comforts and connects with her and gradually lets go of his child, knowing there is nothing he can do to stop the change.

TheHorde_movieposterThe Horde‘ (Belgian, subtitles). A good film, despite its flaws. A zombie outbreak occurs during a police raid on a notorious criminal gang; they must team up in order to survive.

28weekslaterPSTER066-film-28-weeks-later-2-1000x1000  ‘28 Weeks Later.’ A good sequel to a great film.

Rammbock_movieposter  ‘Rammbock‘ (German, subtitles). The true spirit of a zombie horror flick; it’s suspenseful, scary and has cinematography that enhances the scenes.

thebattery  ‘The Battery.’ A true low-budget indie film, and one of the best on this list. It tells a story, a good story, of two former minor league baseball players, hence the bats, dealing with the end of civilization, loneliness and the need to connect with other human beings, in an apocalyptic landscape.

Ravenous_220px-Les_Affamés_film_poster  ‘Ravenous‘ (2017, there are many movie titles by this name). (French, subtitles). Really good! This movie brings suspense back to zombie films, a must-watch.

REC  Scariest, for me, on this list would go to ‘[REC]‘ (Spanish, subtitles). Other titles on this list have scary moments and overall creepiness, but this found footage horror movie is edge-of-your-seat thrilling. The American remake, ‘Quarantine,’ and both of [REC]’s sequels were not very good.

‘Dawn of the Dead.’ George Romero’s 1968 ‘Night of the Living Dead’ created the zombie film genre, and his 1978 ‘Dawn of the Dead’ perfected it. This original recipe, classic horror film sets the stage for everything zombie to follow.  The 2004 Zack Snyder ‘Dawn of the Dead’ reboot is a non-stop action film, quite different from the original; a must-watch for any zombie fan.

28-days-later-2002-poster  ‘28 Days Later.’ Danny Boyle completely changed the zombie rules, which revitalized the genre with this suspenseful film. ’28 Days’ is the first movie to depict zombies as mad, crazed-sprinters; run for your life! These zombies created so much more tension as a result. Also just one drop of infected blood can turn someone in an instant.  However, I felt the last portion of this movie was little uninteresting, compared to its thrilling beginning.

train-to-busan-commentary  ‘Train to Busan‘ is my favorite on this list. It’s a Chinese, action-thriller that is suspenseful from beginning to end. It’s everything a zombie film should be. Just watch it.

If I missed a zombie movie title that you loved, by all means, scream at me in the comments. I mean, you may get blocked, but I would love to hear your opinion, not really, but I would like to know if there is a good film that I missed or haven’t seen.

11 different movie formats to see in theatres, why wait for video: VOD / Streaming (or DVD)?

11 different movie formats to see in theatres, why wait for video: VOD / Streaming (or DVD)? unless of course, it’s a movie like ‘American Ultra,’ then yes, wait for video.

There were just so many choices to see Star Wars The Force Awakens, and choosing a theatre became very confusing coordinating with friends. Should we see close by? or the best screen/ movie experience possible? became a heated debate as one of the most epic movie release date quickly approached, dec 17 2015.

movie theatre formats:

regular or 2D

Real 3D  (somehow this is different than regular 3D )

3D with X D sound  (because movies need sound these days, like the “Talkies.” X D sound is actually better and fuller and creates a more immersive environment, but do bring ear plugs because a class action law suit is coming for future deaf americans. Cinemark theaters).

Laser 3D  (this is different than regular 3D in that the 3D glasses have a receiver, don’t cover it btw. Arclight theatres)

AMC prime  (this is similar to Disneyland or theme parks where the seats move a little during the action, but does not include free 2-day shipping)

IMAX  (not actually sure if you can still see something in IMAX alone, without 3D, but I put it here as an option).

IMAX 3D  (wider than normal screen and in 3D )

IMAX laser 3D  (wider than normal screen and in 3D. adding “laser” to anything makes it sound cooler, even sharks.)

IMAX 3D stadium seating  (this is truly a better movie experience, as you have a much better view of the screen. also the screen is curved to even further immerse you in the film. worth the extra cash for movies like ‘Gravity’ and ‘Star Wars.’)

IMAX stadium seating 1/4 dome  (found only at science museums & theme parks. the only true IMAX, as the movie is shot entire with IMAX cameras).

Gambit Gone Rogue? Has #ChanningTatum left #XMen: #Gambit solo film?

maxresdefaultOMG, i don’t know either, but come on 22 Jumping G.I. Joe Magic Mike, you played a laser gravity boots wearing wolf hybrid in Jupiter Ascending, an X-Men mutant with ability to explode anything isn’t that much of a stretch; we need our Remy Lebeau, aka Gambit. Fox Studios has set the Gambit movie release date for October 7th, 2016; written by Chris Claremont, the creator of Marvel’s The X-Men comics.

fact: negotiations are falling apart now with Channing Tatum and Fox studio’s ‘X-Men: Gambit’ movie team; Channing Tatum has reportedly left the project, but it is yet unconfirmed by Fox Studios or Channing Tatum.

solution: tweet your angst, it helps (well maybe a little 🙂

Fantastic Four teaser trailer explained review breakdown : with hidden easter eggs no one was ever expecting!

Fantastic Four teaser trailer explained review breakdown; the Fox reboot is based on the Marvel comic “Ultimate Fantastic Four,” and opens the door to the universe (and Multiverse) that is the Fantastic Four, not just a series of sequels, with potential X-Men crossovers. the Fantastic Four hits theatres Aug 7, 2015.

MV5BMjI4NTg1MTM1N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNjQwMTAyNDE@._V1_Fantastic_Four_Logo_by_stanlydan (1)yeah, another reboot of Marvel characters not owned by Marvel; yep, too soon. i love how the trailer makes several points of stating, “from the studio that brought you ‘X-Men : Days of Future Past.'” yes, it was a good movie, but you left out the entire rogue sequence, and why wasn’t Storm the leader of the X-Men in the future? just because ‘Days of Future Past’ was a success, does not mean that we, the fans, have forgotten ‘X-Men : Last Stand,’ also known as, “the X-Men movie where they screwed of Phoenix,” or “the worst X-Men movie to date,” not including, ‘X-Men : Origins : Wolverine.’ yes, 20th Century Fox has screwed up a lot Marvel story lines and will not allow crossovers between Fox owned characters in Marvel movies, but i think they have finally listened to the angry fans; also, if the Fox owned Marvel characters, X-Men and Fantastic Four, are not successful in the movies, the studio would stop making movies and the rights would revert back to Marvel, so Fox does care a little of what the fans think, enough to keep their franchise moderately successful.

that being said, the Fantastic Four trailer looks pretty good. it is always impossible to tell from a trailer, but it looks like there is a backstory, character development, discovery of super powers and an introduction to elements solely unique to the Fantastic Four. my two biggest complaints are the logo being square instead of the round one that has been used for 50 years, are they trying to fit a square peg reboot into a round hole expectations of what fans want? and that Reed Richards, “the smartest man alive,” is only 22; are they going to give him the traditional salt & pepper side burns? i understand Fox went with young actors so they could keep the cost down of paying for experienced actors, and also because Chris Evans, the first cinematic Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, is now Captain America, and getting the band back together would not have been possible. i felt that Ioan Gruffudd was the perfect Reed Richards; he really looked exactly like the comic book character. the new Reed Richards, Miles Teller, still looks like the party guy from ’21 & over,’ not the sometimes brooding, always thinking, genius that is Reed Richards. i know, acting, but the trailer did not disprove this for me. but if you read the Fantastic Four origin story, Ultimate Fantastic Four by Brian Michael Bendis, the Four do discover their powers as teenagers, while discovering the Multiverse, including the “N-Zone” (alternate of the “Negative Zone”), the Microverse, etc.

i’m excited about the plot though and hope i can put these things behind me when i see it. Fox is starting to copy Marvel movies and creating a complex and intriguing cinematic universe, not just a series of sequels and reboots. this is their first attempt at introducing the expansive universe that the Fantastic Four lives in. yes, we will see the Four get their powers, but we will also see them get theirs powers through the introduction of alternate universes as part of the Multiverse, possibly the N-Zone (or Negative Zone, depending on which comic book origin story you go by), that alternate dimension, that contains nothing but bad things (like Nihil (N-Zone) or Annilius (Negative Zone)) and in that discovery, unleashes constant havoc upon the world; thanks Reed. it looks like this discovery is also how the five get their powers. yes, five, Dr Doom of course. we see Dr Doom as a child with a young Reed Richards, experimenting on their first teleportation device, and later, on the military funded, human teleportation device. we also hear his ominous voice over. we may even see Dr Victor Domashev (or Dr Victor Von Doom, in the comics) go to Latvaria, Dr Doom’s home country in the comics, at the end of this film, hinting at the plot to the sequel. yes, the sequel already has a date; June 2, 2017, rather optimistic for Fox.

Star Wars : The Force Awakens : episode VII characters from the teaser trailer get names!

StarWars TheForceAwakens (previously only known as “episode VII”) teaser trailer, from last week, characters get offical names. Actors DaisyRidley, the new Jedi, as depicted riding an old-school speeder on Tatooine, and  JohnBoyega, wearing stormtrooper armor, also on Tatooine, get first names only. actor Oscar Isaac, the x-wing pilot, gets first and last. the roller droid is actually not an R2 unit, but a “….” the new Sith or Sith Lord, is named, well presumably Sith, because the commentary mentions “Dark Side,” when he or she appears (rumor: the Sith could be actor Adam Driver) with that totally rad (yes, i just used ‘rad’) new lightsaber, technically, it’s a “lightbroadsword,” and not a “saber” at all. the lightbroadsword is actually from the expanded universe. last year, Star Wars experts went through 30 years of the expanded universe and decided what was congruent with George Lucas’ movies and kept what they deemed as “canon,” and threw out the rest. we will find out,  in the next 5 years, what they kept as, “official Star Wars Canon.” i am fully expecting many heated debates over this subject. some believe, only what we saw in movies should be official canon. i am personally ok with many of the creative ideas, from fans and writers alike, that carried the Star Wars torch over the past 30 years. one thing i want to see is the Sith homeworld, Korriban and learn the origin of the Sith, with the first Sith, Darth Ruin. for now, we will only get pieces of what is to come.

what we do know:

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford will reprise their roles of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo respectively. it is most likely that Luke Skywalker returns to his home planet of Tatooine, much like Obi Wan Kenobi did. perhaps he has begun teaching padwans, young Jedi, like actress Daisy Ridley, who could actually be his daughter. it is also possible that remnants of the empire survived and now have begun hunting the Jedi in secret to quell the Force so that the Sith can rise unopposed and take over the galaxy.

watch the video to discover the official names (don’t worry, it’s only 1min long):
