avengers : age of ultron
rating: not as good as the first one, but see it in theatres, watch it in 3d is optional.
an engaging A.I. / robot story that is more about .. just see it.
rating: see it in theatres
arnold zombie movie.
rating: borderline: theatres vs wait for dvd. if you love everything zombie, then yes, see it in theatres; as a movie goes, waiting for dvd/watching it at home is fine. may 8
everything you’d expect from a good sci-fi film, spaceships, bio weapons, rescue mission..
rating: i want to see it. a weak theatre rating or a great dvd rating. a great time to kill theatre film, fortunately for us, the sci fi fans, we get it both on itunes and in theatres, at THE SAME TIME. may 8
mad max : fury road
the apocalyptic world we have grown to love, and bonus! no crazy mel gibson! although he would be a perfect mentally unstable villain in this world.
it’s a reboot, with that awesome car, the australian ford falcon, but with a new story.
rating: see it in theatres, unless the apocalypse scares you. may 15
sci-fi / time travel / Ai/machine
rating: wait for dvd. may 15
dark star: h.r. giger’s world
h.r. giger created the ‘alien’ creature and many others.
rating: fascinating behind the scenes story about the top sci-fi creatures, but wait for dvd, not necessary to see in theatres. may 15
cowboys vs dinosaurs
not a sequel to ‘coboys vs aliens.’
rating: do not see in theatres. do not pay for a dvd/streaming rental, wait for netflix and only if you’re bored. may 19
rating: as good as it can be.. even with george clooney, but typ disney/family-friendly/non-adventurous storytelling.
rating: wait for dvd. may 22
not about superman & how he recharges his powers from the sun, about the father of the base jumping movement.
rating: if you love action sports, see it theatres w friends who also love action sports, otherwise, dvd rental. may 22
perhaps they tried to make this film a little too epic.. they failed, it looks more like ‘2012,’ a laughable disaster movie that’s too over-the-top to be believable; just add aliens, robots and godzilla, don’t pretend it’s a serious movie. also, not the sequel to ‘volcano’ (1997).
rating: the epic scenes will be best in the theatres, but as far as a movie goes, with things that make a movie good, like a good story, wait for dvd; unless you like to see california fall off into the ocean-traffic problem solved, but seriously, save your money. may 29
spoiler alert: the dinosaurs escape and eat people.
rating: wait for dvd. it will be better than jurassic park 2 & 3, but the plot is basically the same as the first one, the dinosaurs escape and eat people. the effects are definitely theatre worthy, just don’t encourage them to make 10 more of these, (they have plans to make two more right away, depending on ticket sales). june 12
rating: see in theatres, despite drastic story twists, and the new spelling of genesis. july 1
not at all related to the upcoming marvel superhero film, ‘ant-man.’
rating: it’s for kids, wait for dvd or not at all, unless you are a kid or a parent renting it for kids. July 3
a lower budget sci-fi with a great, but familiar story of A.I.’s deciding humans are the greatest threat to humanity/earth and “EXTERMINATE.EXTERMINATE.” 60 years later..a post apocalyptic world run by machines.
rating: wait for dvd. july 7
exactly what you’d expect from the title, the best part of ‘despicable me.’
rating: if love ’em, go see ’em, but for everyone else, waiting for dvd will be just fine. july 10
intriguing sci fi thriller.
rating: interesting, but wait for dvd. july 10
not as great as it could have been with edgar wright. also, Hank Pym is not the creator of Ultron in the movies ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ nor in ‘Ant-man,’ but does create Ultron in the comics.
rating: will not be another ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ but will try to replicate that style. will not be epic, but will be entertaining. see it in theatres. july 17
ian mckellen has to do something now that they gave magneto to michael fassbender 😦
an alternate take on sherlock holmes, well acted, good story.
rating: a great dvd rental. july 17
i used to like adam sandler movies..
it’s ‘grown-ups’ ruining your favorite 80s retro video games.
rating: dvd (but only to see it for a giant pac-man eating san francisco), i would rather see ‘hot tub time machine 2,’ than this. july 24
mission impossible : rogue nation
tom cruise, jeremy renner. hopefully not like ‘jason born 4’ w jeremy renner.
rating: as with any great action film, seeing it in the theatre is always best. i really want this to be the best mission impossible yet, but i am not convinced : see it in theatres. july 31
another fox film with marvel characters. too soon for a reboot.
rating: will be good, but not great. wait for dvd. (if you must see every superhero movie in theatres, go for it, seeing the negative zone and anilhilus will be interesting. i will be seeing it in theatres). aug 8
