Top 20 Best Zombie Movies & Top 5 TV Shows Recommended Watch Review List, for the Undead Apocalypse/ Zombies Fan

Even before the first zombie movie, ‘White Zombie,’ people have been obsessed with the undead; the once living, neighbors, friends, relatives, now reanimated and attempting to eat you alive. This concept may be overused in today’s culture, but it was once terrifying.

Creating a modern best of list is difficult, as “best,” to some, may mean scariest, but to others, it may mean cinematic, drama or even humorous. And to others still, it may mean general, quality movie standards of creative story telling and developed, transformative characters. This list will include all of the above and is a recommended watch list for anyone willing to see people eating other people.

TV, Top5  (– wait, are there more than 5?)

TWD2The Walking Dead‘ always deserves a mention in anything zombie, I mean, walkers, sorry Robert Kirkman. The first episode is still one of the best, created by Hollywood cinematographer, David Tatersall, and set the tone for the entire series. I wish AMC never fired him; the end of season 1 and the entirety of season could have been good. It got better, of course, and some of those episodes in season 5 and 6 were truly amazing. I personally feel, mid-Negan, the show has gone down hill and lost its appeal to many; (hoping it gets better). I spoke with Robert Kirkman, mid-season 6; he explained that ‘The Walking Dead’ is still in its first act of storytelling. Not sure how that will play out with Andrew Lincoln, ‘Rick,’ leaving the show. AMC will hang on to this show as long as possible, so maybe the overall plan is to realize the big picture story with additional spin-off series like the underwhelming ‘Fear The Walking Dead;’ just make a show about the beginning of the apocalypse, not ‘West Coast Walking Dead,’ it’s not CSI. I did, however, enjoy the brief ‘Flight 462,’ for the mere fact that you cannot escape walkers on a plane.

‘Z Nation’ is just not worth mentioning, aw crap, I mean besides now. Zombie baby, #noop.

izombie-4-sezon-ne-zaman-baslayacakCW’s ‘iZombie‘ is a happy-go-lucky tv series that is all fun and will get you to anticipate each entree Liv Moore creates in every episode. The moral of the series is don’t chase drugs with energy drinks. Or maybe it’s the living and the undead should never date?  Anyway, it’s nothing like the comic.

santa-clarita-diet-season-3-netflix-scheduleSanta Clarita Diet‘ is hysterical all the way through. (if you’re reading this from a time capsule, there are only 2 seasons so far, so I can’t speak for future seasons). What happens when a realtor, or real-a-tor, from the ‘burbs starts to crave human flesh? Does she eat her misogynistic neighbor?

MOVIES, Top20

Let’s get the comedy out of the way first..

220px-Life_After_Beth_poster   ‘Life After Beth.’ Aubry Plaza makes this film fun to watch. Unexplained zombie outbreak in suburbia.

Fido  Fido is like ‘Leave It To Beaver’ 50s style television, but with zombies, you’ll love it!

zombieland  Zombieland is a how-to guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse, with great rules to live by. Not only is it entertaining, but it’s a good film as well. I truly loved this movie.

shaun-dead.0.0  ‘Shaun of the Dead‘ is a masterful modern classic, with comedy only Edgar Wright can deliver, and overall, it’s a really good movie. Pulling the blind down to ignore the zombies was a classic scene. Also, setting the stage in the beginning, with people zoning out on the bus before the outbreak is genius. Watch and re-watch.

Drama, action, suspense & horror:

warmbodies   ‘Warm Bodies.’ If you can handle a “zo-mance,” where zombies fall in love and retain human-like qualities, with a happy ending, then this may be for you.

200px-Dodsno    ‘Dead Snow‘ (Norwegian, subtitles). Nazi zombies unearthed in Norway cause havoc. Gory action, with humor.

resident-evil-the-final-chapter-2560x1440-resident-evil-the-final-chapter-6270  ‘Resident Evil.’ The first one was clearly the best in the Milla Jovovich series, but every one is entertaining & promises the Umbrella Corporation, so cool in that regard. Yes, the game is better, but the movies will be rebooted soon and promise more Umbrella Corp, so I’ll be watching.

Rezort-Poster-27x39-copy2-Copy  ‘The Rezort.’  (I still believe ‘Last Rezort’ would have been a better title). A solid movie, with a concise a story, but rather generic. After the zombie outbreak, zombies were defeated, but not eradicated, just put on an island to shoot for recreation. It’s like Jurassic Park, but with zombies, what could go wrong?

HereAlone  ‘Here Alone.’ An indie zombie film. A woman accustomed to isolation in the woods, has her routine upended when she encounters a father and daughter. I liked how you heard the zombies throughout the film, knowing their presence was nearby, but only saw the creatures at the end.

World-war-z-poster03  ‘World War Z.’ Once bitten, you have 11 seconds before you turn. You can’t outrun the turned. If you do manage to escape into a large building, they’ll just pile themselves up a hundred feet high until they breach the building. I’m not spoiling anything am I? I feel like the plot was a little muddled, and it felt like the ending didn’t fit the rest of the film, but it did have some great scenes.

Cargo-Movie-poster  ‘Cargo‘ was a nice film about a man protecting his family. I feel like they traveled in circles the entire film. I enjoyed it, with great performances, but they didn’t follow their own zombie rules at the end.

‘I Am Legend.’ Nope, they were vampires. Yes, it was an apocalyptic movie, like ‘Stakeland,’ but, again, vampires, not zombies. The book had both ravenous zombie-like, flesh-eating vampires, as well as, civilized, societal vampires.

Maggie-review   ‘Maggie.’ Clearly the best acting performance of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s career. His daughter has been bitten and slowly turns. He comforts and connects with her and gradually lets go of his child, knowing there is nothing he can do to stop the change.

TheHorde_movieposterThe Horde‘ (Belgian, subtitles). A good film, despite its flaws. A zombie outbreak occurs during a police raid on a notorious criminal gang; they must team up in order to survive.

28weekslaterPSTER066-film-28-weeks-later-2-1000x1000  ‘28 Weeks Later.’ A good sequel to a great film.

Rammbock_movieposter  ‘Rammbock‘ (German, subtitles). The true spirit of a zombie horror flick; it’s suspenseful, scary and has cinematography that enhances the scenes.

thebattery  ‘The Battery.’ A true low-budget indie film, and one of the best on this list. It tells a story, a good story, of two former minor league baseball players, hence the bats, dealing with the end of civilization, loneliness and the need to connect with other human beings, in an apocalyptic landscape.

Ravenous_220px-Les_Affamés_film_poster  ‘Ravenous‘ (2017, there are many movie titles by this name). (French, subtitles). Really good! This movie brings suspense back to zombie films, a must-watch.

REC  Scariest, for me, on this list would go to ‘[REC]‘ (Spanish, subtitles). Other titles on this list have scary moments and overall creepiness, but this found footage horror movie is edge-of-your-seat thrilling. The American remake, ‘Quarantine,’ and both of [REC]’s sequels were not very good.

‘Dawn of the Dead.’ George Romero’s 1968 ‘Night of the Living Dead’ created the zombie film genre, and his 1978 ‘Dawn of the Dead’ perfected it. This original recipe, classic horror film sets the stage for everything zombie to follow.  The 2004 Zack Snyder ‘Dawn of the Dead’ reboot is a non-stop action film, quite different from the original; a must-watch for any zombie fan.

28-days-later-2002-poster  ‘28 Days Later.’ Danny Boyle completely changed the zombie rules, which revitalized the genre with this suspenseful film. ’28 Days’ is the first movie to depict zombies as mad, crazed-sprinters; run for your life! These zombies created so much more tension as a result. Also just one drop of infected blood can turn someone in an instant.  However, I felt the last portion of this movie was little uninteresting, compared to its thrilling beginning.

train-to-busan-commentary  ‘Train to Busan‘ is my favorite on this list. It’s a Chinese, action-thriller that is suspenseful from beginning to end. It’s everything a zombie film should be. Just watch it.

If I missed a zombie movie title that you loved, by all means, scream at me in the comments. I mean, you may get blocked, but I would love to hear your opinion, not really, but I would like to know if there is a good film that I missed or haven’t seen.

The Cloverfield Paradox is a paradox unto itself. scifi netflix movie

‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ is an extremely well done scifi adventure movie, with amazing VFX / CGI and special FX. BUT the plot and the story could have been so SO much better; it just felt like they added unnecessary scenes to cover up the gaps in the story and major plot holes. The worst part of this movie was the plot trying to connect the previous films in this series, ‘Cloverfield’ and ’10 Cloverfield Lane.’

Cloverfield-ParadoxSPOILERS below:

‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ movie, surprised us all by dropping it on Netflix, immediately available after the Super Bowl, on the online streaming platform, skipping theatrical release. In ‘The Cloverfield Paradox,’ the time frame is set in the future to our present 2018 (mentioning this just in case someone from the future is reading this and archiving it to unravel the on-going Cloverfield Mystery). With only 5 years remaining of Earth’s oil reserve supply, a last minute, last ditch effort to save modern civilization, a particle accelerator on a massive space station is created, with the name ‘Cloverfield.’ If it really was humanity’s last chance, why did the ship have to be so big? It literally would have taken decades to build, which would present so many technological problems, including the original parts and design would have to be replaced after 10 years. The particle accelerator itself was not that big, which would be the only reason to have such a massive ship, as current particle accelerators are miles in length, (and circular). The ship design looked amazing, but the rotating elements were off-axis, which would not create the intended artificial gravity; also not necessary and adding to the size of the ship.

Cloverfield_ship.png

Perhaps “The Cloverfield Paradox” is that the use of alternative fuels would have negated the need for fossil fuels and deescalated any future “Oil Wars,” thus negating the need for this entire movie. Today, the military has prototype biofuel fighter jets that perform equally to fossil fuel jets. A biofuel commercial airline jet made its first transatlantic flight several years ago. Solar City solar panels, using Tesla batteries, powered an entire hospital last fall, as independent aid to Puerto Rico. Solar power plants already exist in the Nevada and Arizona deserts, not to mention countless wind farms around the world. I find it hard to believe, “humanity’s last hope” lies in an untested technological form of space particle accelerator energy generator, that feeds energy to the entire planet. And what was the plan to get the energy down to Earth? Beam it down like a satellite mobile phone signal? If so, would you have to wait for it to pass overhead to get power for your house or city? So many questions..

Solar_Power_Plant_Gemasolar

Back to the story.. and this is the worst part of this film, Donal Logue, an author, via tv broadcast, to the Cloverfield space ship bridge command center, explains the tie-ins to all the Cloverfield movies: “the particle accelerator could open a door to another dimension and bring demons or monsters to Earth.” WHAT?! Why would you take ALL the anticipation and suspense away from the entire film? Also, why were you watching television 30 seconds before testing the device, with only fuel for three more test attempts), THE most important thing in human history? Was it for your Instagram Story?

DonalLogue_CloverfieldParadox

Well, now you know what’s going to happen and what will happen on Earth right after the accelerator fires up. Now it’s just wait and see as story unfolds, but wait, we’ll mislead you with scenes that distract from the main story like the arm scene didn’t need to be there. Unless Hamilton was going to use the arm to kill Mena at the climax of their fight scene; they even showed a close-up of the arm, eluding to it being used later in the fight scene, but it never was. Or, unless they were trying to say that that area in the ship was where the dimensions overlapped, but if so, there should have been more anomalies in that same area, like every anomaly, including the unexplained lake of water that appeared out of no where. If they were trying to say that “condensation” created the lake, then the weight of the mystery water would have thrown the station off balance long before the explosion of the magnetic/oxygen related  incident at the rotating gravity balancer. This magnetic anomaly would have made perfect sense if it was in the same location. The purpose of the oxygen scene was to get more energy to launch the particle accelerator, and was going to give them “just enough” energy to do that, but instead it just dropped the periscope thingy with blue lights, that, for some reason, needed to drop down to start the particle accelerator, instead of just being down all the time, it’s not like they needed the space, again, the ship was huge. And also somehow, the ship had tons of energy for the rest of the movie. They could have just had “weird stuff happens on the ship” and still have had it been cohesive in some way.

Cloverfield_Paradox_arm

People freaked out on Twitter over the ending, but you knew there were going to be giant creatures beginning with Donal Logue’s tv broadcast scene. Also, when husband looks out the window and sees explosions and hears fighter jets flying to the scene (yes, this could be the start of the “Oil Wars” mentioned previously, but not after Donal Logue). And again, when you see the shadow of the monster in the smoke over the debris. And again Again, in the bomb shelter (where was this? who built it? and how did a random doctor know its location? Was it on Yelp? Hey Siri, is there an abandoned bomb shelter and or bunker near me left unlocked with plenty of supplies that also has great cell reception?), when you heard giant foot steps above; what else could have made those exact sounds? And finally, when husband actually says, “You’re having her come back here [to Earth] to these THINGS,” right before you see the giant creature at the end.

Sheppard_Gyro_compass_motion

Through the use of the Sheppard Gyro Compass device, The Cloverfield space station, intending on creating unlimited energy, accidentally sends the crew to an alternate dimension. The scifi aspects hold up, sort of, when weird things happen and continue to happen without explanation, in a similar vein to ‘Event Horizon.’ I believe ‘Cloverfield Paradox’ was trying to say that when the original Cloverfield ship of original Earth jumped to a new dimension, the universe was trying to correct itself, with anomalies, because the ship did not belong to this new dimension. This wasn’t explained very well, in fact nothing was explained very well. So much so, that instead of establishing rules for the Cloverfield Universe, that were desperately needed (& were promised in promotional marketing), this movie basically says, “we did some stuff and now we can do whatever we want for future films, because none of it matters.” If you want people to become fans, set up rules so we have something to grasp to. As far as I can tell, the particle accelerator opened a dimensional gateway and let out giant monsters in every dimension, at different times. I can only assume that now, ‘Cloverfield’ and ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ took place in alternate dimensions and all future movies will have no tie-ins to previous films, and if they do, and a future sequel is not popular, they can simply hit command Z and undo the previous plot, citing that happened in another dimension, and has no relevance on a continuous plot line. ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ was originally called, ‘God Particle,’ after the Higgs-Boson particle discovered at the Cern particle accelerator. Scientists have claimed the Higgs-Boson can explain the universe. Maybe they, Paramount with JJ Abrams, originally named it “God Particle,” so they could play God with the plot and never be accountable for anything that doesn’t work.

Speaking of giant monsters.. In the original ‘Cloverfiled,’ many of the monsters were just larger than human size, 8-10 feet tall(?) With the giant, “end boss” monster, half the size of New York buildings, that somehow Michael Jordon-jumped up and knocked off the head of the Statue of Liberty. Why? Because it made a great movie poster. The monsters, at the end of ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ were similar to the ones in ‘Cloverfield,’ but more like aliens, with chemical weapons and the technology to build a mothership capable of invading other planets. OR, maybe the aliens driving the mother ship were creatures we haven’t seen yet, who traveled through the dimensional gateway and unleashed the creatures on Earth in every timeline (I’ll take a story credit for the next Cloverfield movie Paramount). When you finally see the giant Cloverfield monster, at the end of ‘Cloverfield Paradox,’ it is so huge, it’s head is above the cloud layer. That is way bigger than Godzilla, in fact, according to science, the cloud layer, as depicted in that scene, ranges anywhere from 6000 to 20,000 feet, and the clouds depicted in that scene, cirrus above cumulus, form at a minimum of 20,000 feet and usually much higher. The weight of such a creature would have easily crushed the underground bunker from the previous scene.

Cloverfield_1stmovie_giant_creature

And in that same scene, did the giant Cloverfield monster eat the escape capsule, from Cloverfield space station, thus negating the entire struggle of every character, of the entire plot, of the entire movie? Maybe not, it was hard to tell, and maybe the creature missed the capsule and it was the same capsule that landed in that unexplained scene from the original ‘Cloverfield’ film, or maybe these two events happened in two different dimensions, and these scenes were just edited together, like Westworld timelines (which is another JJ Abrams project)? If the intention of this Paradox, a convoluted and unsupported plot line which was created merely to rub people the wrong way and get them to complain about this film online, generating enormous social media buzz, then, success.

This movie had a lot of potential. I love the actors, the acting, the incredible sets, the amazing cinematography, the flawless FX, but the story just had so many issues. I would have loved to have seen events in the future create events in the past, or something similar; just better scifi than the muddled story we were given.

Would I recommend ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ and should you watch it? It’s better than many other movies currently on Netflix, and is even better than many films released in the theaters, despite everything I’ve just mentioned. Also, ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ is better than anything currently on network television, so yes, I would recommend it, and yes, you should watch it (if you love scifi and don’t mind many, many unanswered questions, and major plot holes).

Ghostbusters teaser trailer brief but more is coming..

Ghostbusters teaser trailer is not epic in any way and is a little confusing as to why Sony Pictures would event release such a less than inspiring teaser. The official trailer will premiere on March 3, 2016, and promises to be amazing and funny. The highly anticipated all-girl Ghostbusters team, a Paul Feig project (Bridesmaids), is called by many, “the best Ghostbusters installment yet.”

The new all-female cast ‘Ghostbusters’ re-make movie is set to premiere date, in theaters on July 15, 2016.

#FantasticFour final rant. with a 9% Rotten Tomatoes score and box office opening weekend earnings less than ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Green Hornet.’

although the new Fantastic Four reboot will never receive the “honor” to be named “the worst superhero movie of all time,” it will receive the title of “2nd worst superhero movie opening weekend,” (in modern history). the official numbers are in: 26.2 Million (according to Box Office Mojo). the only movie to do worse at the box office was the sequel to Ghost Rider, ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,’ with 22.1M; a movie you are better off not seeing. even the ‘Green Hornet’ did better than the ‘Fantastic Four,’ with 35M. ‘Daredevil’ even raked in 40.3M opening weekend. The 2005 Fantastic Four film made 56M it’s opening weekend and it’s sequel, ‘Rise of the Surfer,’ made a similar 58M. opening weekend box office results are really based on expectations; for example, ‘Superman3’ had a good opening weekend for 1983, but it was based on the expectations from Superman 1&2, and not Richard Prior. what even happened in that movie? evil dude was so rich he “never wore the same socks twice,” is all i got out of it. according to the movie studio, Superman3 did well, and Superman4 killed the franchise. actually, what really happened is no one trusted the Superman brand after Superman3;  (also Superman4 was even worse, like the writers didn’t care anymore). it’s too bad, as i loved Christopher Reeve as Superman/Clark Kent.

https://mtc.cdn.vine.co/r/videos_h264high/108DBF406D1191635867492810752_SW_WEBM_142708229060605dca3b252.mp4?versionId=IxSFovHk7hj2oTAwM8t0k_j4xxqjyq2f

in today’s movie market, almost everyone loves superhero movies and are willing to see many of them every year, unlike in years past. we are in an era of geek dominated movies, (which is frikkin amazeballz!) akin to the cowboy movies of the 50s and 60s. we, geeks and muggles alike, are willing to see more than previous generations if we get to see the characters we love. this has made movie makers lazy and more reliant on CGI/special effects and less on a compelling story. Josh Trank, the director of the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, has been blamed for his discouraging tweet the night before ‘The Fantastic Four’ hit theaters. it dissuaded some, but the real discouraging factor was the Rotten Tomatoes score of 9%. the rotten tomato score is a average based on all national critics. Josh Trank, who thinks he is great because of ‘Chronicle,’ and who will NOT, thank God, be directing Star Wars : Rogue One, tried to make himself look better by distancing himself from ‘Fantastic Four,’ and blaming the studio, 20th Century Fox, for the disaster. you’re not THAT good Trank, but you did have a different vision of the movie, which was a more modern, grittier sci-fi version, but was not at all related to the idea of the Fantastic Four and what they represent in the comics in any way. Josh Trank wanted to make a sci-fi film and use existing characters. unique is great, but forcing existing characters into a fixed idea is problematic. Fox wanted to use the standard formula for a superhero film here. there were many clashes between the two, but i post blame on the studio itself for rewriting scenes, last minutes changes and reshoots and even changing characters. one unanimous criticism from every reviewer is that the film lacks continuity and a story with clear direction; this is a clear result from studio conflicts and interference. would we have liked Josh Trank’s vision of the film? more so, yes, completely, no. also, the Fantastic Four sequel will not be happening. but remember when Bryan Singer did not do ‘X-Men3: Last Stand’ so he could steal Cyclops and make ‘Superman Returns?’ that was the worst X-Men movie ever, but they got Singer back eventually, on the creative team for X-Men: First Class’ and completely for X-Men: Days of Future Past.’ So there is hope for the Fantastic Four in movies. Bryan Singer could incorporate the Fantastic Four in future X-Men movies, as he previously hinted at, or 20th Century Fox could hire Fantastic Four writer Chris Claremont, Brian Michael Bendis or any writer who understands the characters and who can create a watchable story. Fox was obligated to make this Fantastic Four reboot; if they hadn’t, the movie rights would have reverted back to Marvel in 2017. will Fox let the Fantastic Four go back to Marvel now? nope, they will cling on as long as they legally can, which means X-Men movies most likely or another reboot in 8 years 😦 the planned Fantastic Four sequel premiere date July 14, 2017 has been replaced by Fox with a possible Deadpool sequel, even though Ryan Reynolds has said Deadpool will be his last superhero movie. this rebooted FF will not be in theatres on their own again, unless accompanied by mutants. (thank you twitter (& @SuperheroSteel) for expressing your Fantastic Four reboot angst this weekend, posts included here).FF_flashy_thingy

#FantasticFour Trank’s at the Box Office: Fox blames director Josh Trank’s discouraging tweet for latest superhero movie Fantastic Four tanking opening weekend

Josh_Trank_Fantastic_Four_tweeti wasn’t looking forward to Fantastic Four from the beginning; too soon for a reboot, but 20th Century Fox forced another movie because if they don’t keep producing Fantastic Four movies, then the cinema rights will revert back to Marvel. this movie is more of a power play than anything. but here’s what really went wrong: Josh Trank had an alternate vision for the reboot, different than the comics or what has come before in the previous Fantastic Four movies. Trank’s concept was more of a sci-fi film genre than a typical superhero film, even with thriller type scenes. nothing wrong with envisioning something new and giving us something to experience, in fact i encourage that. Trank chose a Fantastic Four reboot in the comics to draw from, ‘Ultimate Fantastic Four’ by Brian Michael Bendis. Trank’s vision, for the most part, was actually filmed, but that is not what we got this weekend. Fox studio execs meddled and reshot certain scenes, even renamed characters to make the film more like a generic superhero film, disparate from what Josh Trank had envisioned. what we were left with was 2 movies pieced together, with some strong story arcs and solid plot points, only to undermined by the next scene, taking the film temporarily in a new direction, and then back to it’s original scheme. in a lot of ways, the same thing happened to Ant-man. Edgar Wright’s vision was compromised and pieces were fit in to try to make Antman fit into a superhero movie scheme that studio execs like because they believe the standard makes money. unfortunately, they are right about the profit, but wrong about what makes a good movie. if it’s pg-13 with superheroes and humor, kids will love it; if it is original with an adult-centric, intellectually engaging plot, then grown ups will like it too. Ant-man was still a success, as the script was still mostly Edgar Wright’s vision, but not all that it could have been. The Fantastic Four, however, lacks clear direction and leaves audience members with an unsure feeling, like this one, “it had all the elements of other superhero movies, but i didn’t really like it and i can’t explain why; it was ok, i guess.” would Fox ever re-edit it more to Trank’s vision? will we ever see that version? i’m assuming that version will be better, but i can’t say for certain.

Character-Bannerthis Fantastic 4 reboot was intended to launch a series of films and begin integration between Fox’s owned X-Men movie franchise and the Fantastic Four. Fox even has a date for the Fantastic Four sequel. crossover plans are all but scrapped for now and no one knows for certain if Fox will continue on with the sequel. does this mean Fox will try to reboot the Fantastic Four again in 5 years just to hang on to the film rights? no one knows at this point.

635743760406688129-XXX-FANTASTIC-FOUR-JY-5626-72363214the concept of a superhero team was conceived by Stan Lee at Marvel in 1961 and was created largely by Jack Kirby. over the years, the writer of the X-Men comics, Chris Clarement wrote the “FF,” as he likes to call it. Chris Claremont has the written the script for the upcoming ‘Gambit’ movie for Fox. why not have Chris Clarement write the new Fantastic Four? or, 20th Century Fox, if you still want to green light a sequel, have comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis write it? it was his vision that created the comic that inspired this movie.

conclusion: wait for DVD / streaming, give Fox studio execs something to think about, but still see it.Josh-Trank-Fantastic-Four-Tweet_article_story_large

Marvel has confirmed the superhero movies of Iron Man 4, Thor 3, and Black Panther, but has not confirmed their release dates; most likely Thor 3 will be the year before Avengers 3, (Nov 3 2017) and Iron Man 4 will be released the same year as Avengers 3 (July 6 2018) and will continue the plot established in Avengers 3 and Captain America 3; yes Iron Man will be appearing in Captain America 3. major things will happen in Avengers 3, major things. not every hero will survive (the destructive path of Thanos). Avengers 3 will be the culmination of everything Marvel has been building in all of it’s movies to date, and in Marvel’s soon to be released movies leading up to Avengers 3. we will see even more plot threads and hints of what is to come; more than just more Infinity Stones. too bad Marvel couldn’t lease it’s other superheroes from Fox & Sony for this epic cinematic event. Marvel is developing a Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel movie, much to the fans wild approval. Captain Marvel, (formerly Ms Marvel), in the comics, is a role model for girls and women everywhere. a strong female lead superhero movie is a much needed, and long awaited arrival. DC / Warner Bros has been saying for years that a female lead superhero movie just wont work; just this week, they changed their minds, because of the fans, and green-lighted the Wonder Woman movie. Marvel was also developing a Black Widow movie, which may include Hawkeye and her time at Hydra, but that is now on the back burner (update). who will be first to release a strong female lead superhero movie? Marvel with Captain Marvel or Black Widow or DC / Warner Bros with Wonder Woman? (update): it looks like DC will be first with Wonder Woman, June 23, 2017; Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers will be released on July 6, 2018. Marvel is also developing several other superhero movies for the immediate future and is developing every Marvel superhero and every major comic book storyline for the years to come, through year 2036. yes, ‘Secret Invasion,’ and other favorites, will be in film, so start looking for clues leading up to and beyond Avengers 3.

Marvel (update): Iron Man 4  Marvel has confirmed this as a movie and now has a contract with RBJ, Robert Downey Jr, but there are no more official Marvel movie dates for the next 5 years. Marvel only has one movie title for 2019, Avengers : Infinity War, part 2; i’m hoping we wont have to wait that long for Iron Man 4. Iron Man will be appearing in Captain America 3: Civil War, and of course, the Avengers 2 : Age of Ultron, Avengers 3 : Infinity War, part 1 & 2. if only only Iron Man had appeared in Captain America 2 : the Winter Soldier, catching Steve Rogers, just before hitting the ground, as he fell from the Helicarrier, if only..  Thor 3, now known as Thor : Ragnarok will feature one of the best story lines in the Thor comics. The Avengers : Infinty War, is, of course, about Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet and the immanent destruction of, not just earth, but also the universe; spoiler alert: Captain America’s shield will pass to another. sad, i know, but both the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes and Falcon have carried Cap’s shield after Captain America was _________ in the comics.

Fox, who owns the cinematic rights to Marvel’s X-Men and Fantastic Four, has confirmed an X-Force movie, the X-Men spin-off. it has yet to be confirmed whether it will be X-Force or Uncanny X-Force from the comics, we the fans want to see Psylocke, Domino, X-23, Cable and Fantomex, and ArcAngel, and including Deadpool would be cool too. Unfortunately, Fox will not be returning X-Men or anything under the X-Men umbrella back to Marvel any time soon. Fox (and Sony) should at least strike a deal with Marvel to lease certain characters, so the Marvel movies can be more complete and true to the comics. for example, when an ominous foe threatens earth, every Marvel bands together to defeat them; ie, Thanos, Ultron, Kang the Conqueror, etc., instead of how it is now in the cinematic universe, where it seems like Spider-man & teh Fantastic Four were napping when Loki and the Chitauri almost conquered New York, and also as the X-Men watched it all on TV.

Sony, who owns the movie rights to Marvel’s Spider-man and all of Spiderman’s villains and cohorts, will be creating its own Spidey cinematic universe. Sony plans to launch a Sinister Six movie soon and plans to launch other Spider-man related films, although “officially” both the Black Cat movie and the Venom movie have been shelved for now. it’s obvious Sony has rushed the Spider-man movies before. this was blatantly obvious with Spider-man 3, great characters, but poorly executed. Spider-man 3 was merely a pre-cursor to the horror that was to come; the Amazing Spider-man movie. it was way too soon to reboot the franchise Sony. although Amazing Spider-man 2 was better than Amazing Spider-man, it was clearly rushed, with no clear story arc; and why were there 3 villains? and why did the movie have 3 endings? Sony was trying to set up it’s Spidey universe, hinting at future films, but it was poorly executed. rumor: Sony may have struck a deal with Fox and future movies may see an X-men/ Fantastic Four/ Spider-man crossover of some sort. Sony has confirmed Amazing Spider-man 3 and Amazing Spider-man 4, but not Andrew Garfield for Amazing Spider-man 4. Sony could be planning on killing Peter Parker, like Marvel did in the comics, and passing the web slinger role to Miles Morales / Ultimate Spider-man. we shall see.. (UPDATE Dec 2014): Sony may reboot the Spider-man franchise for Amazing Spider-man 3, due to conflicts with Andrew Garfield. please consider Sony, the fans will not stand for this, many still complain about the Andrew Garfield reboot. it’s too soon to reboot again; superhero fans and regular peeps will become disinterested and just stop going to the theatre. let Marvel show you hoe to use Spider-man, or at least lend him to Marvel.

DC / Warner Bros  (UPDATE)  has confirmed a solo Batman movie and Man of Steel 2, but has not confirmed their release dates yet. this post will be updated as new release are confirmed. Batfleck, Ben Affleck has signed an 11 movie deal to appear as Batman for DC / Warner Bros. Jason Momoa, ‘Kahl Drogo’ from Game of Thrones, (has been confirmed to play Aquaman in Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice. Batman v Superman will also feature Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, The Flash and possibly Cyclops, besides the obvious Batman, Ben Affleck, and Superman, Henry Cavill.

note: Marvel & DC are not the only companies who produce superhero comics. other comic book companies will soon be launching their own superhero movies. Valiant comics is one of these companies. If you haven’t read Valiant, start with X-O Manowar, he will be the 1st of many Valiant movies. there have been other non-Marve-DC superhero movies in the past too, like the Phantom, from the 90s, with Billy Zane, which is one of my favorite superhero movies of all time (story is more important than visual effects).
