#TeenTitans #TheJudasContract #movie #review #Terra & more..

teen-titans-the-judas-contract-cast-600x338-227248-1280x0This animated film is very well done and continues in the same universe as ‘Son of Batman’ and ‘Justice League vs Teen Titans.’ Not for all ages cartoon, due to cursing and violence. ‘Teen Titans: The Judas Contract’ is an adapted version on the 1984 comic of the same name, with a few tweaks to the story that fit with the characters & current Teen Titans team. It helps to have a solid base for the characters and build-up to the story, ‘The Judas Contract,’ otherwise this film might seem a bit out of place. It seems incomplete to have a great story about the Teen Titans and not to have Cyborg. Limited research showed that this was due to Warner Bros wanting to have Cyborg solely associated with The Justice League for the upcoming live-action movie than with the animated Teen Titans. Cyborg has appeared in this animated film universe before, like ‘JusticeLeague: Doom’ & ‘Teen Titans vs Justice League’ movies, but as a member of The Justice League. So I guess Warner Bros have decided Cyborg is Justice League only, which is too bad, because he is such a crucial member of Teen Titans. ‘The Judas Contract’ story first appeared in animation on the ever popular Teen Titans cartoon, which is still a great, light-hearted series.

Terra_09My main problem with this animated feature was the Terra storyline. It felt wildly inappropriate to have a young teenager (13?), Terra, wanting to date a 55 year-old man, Deathstroke; I just felt weirded out with every scene. Were they actually sleeping together? Did I miss that? Even creepier, WTF DC? But I guess since it was in the comics it makes it somehow OK? Nope, still not OK.

(Spoilers) Towards the end, it would have been nice to see Terra turn around & attack Slade, motivated by her own moral compass, saving the Titans at the last moment, instead of solely acting out of revenge, focusing only on killing Deathstroke, all while not caring for the well being of The Titans at all. She could have at least made them a tunnel to the surface, protecting the Titans from the collapsing underground cavern Temple of the Brother Blood Cult. Also, there was no clear explanation of how exactly The Titans escaped this disaster.

maxresdefault (1)Deathstroke returns (spoiler) as the main villain. You may remember he was killed by Damian at the end of ’Son of Batman,’ which was poorly done, by the way. Deathstroke shot at Damien several times, from just 20 feet away, and missed every time! In the comics, Deathstroke, with the help of the serum, gave him metahuman abilities, like shooting The Flash in the knee, as Barry was running full speed. There’s absolutely no reason Deathstroke should have missed at such close range. Anyway, Deathstroke has since been revived from the dead, with the use of Lazarus Pits, and appears in this animated film to exact his revenge on Damien. I think it would have been easier to have just shot Damien with a sniper rifle, but Slade chose an elaborate plan, with years of preparation, bringing the rest of the Titans down at the same time, all while getting paid for it by Brother Blood instead.

asdStarfire was, again, over sexualized & it is a bit odd, that the leader of the Titans, Starfire/Kori, no longer lives in the Tower; seems like bad leadership skills, which was a recurring theme in this film.

pre_TitansIt was great to see Bumble Bee in the beginning flashback sequence and it’s exciting that Wonder Girl, Donna Troy, will be joining The Titans in future DC animated movies (spoilers).

Wonder_Girl_Donna_Troy3CONCLUSION: ’Teen Titans: The Judas Contract’ was a good film & you should WATCH IT; I just wish Terra’s storyline was better crafted. IMPORTANT NOTE: There’s an end credit scene, so watch through the credits.

Supergirl Pilot! You can watch it Right Now! (or wait ’til November) Supergirl episode One leaked online!

The Supergirl pilot episode leaked online today. the episode was slated to be released with the series premiere in November, but somehow it showed up online this morning. original claims had said it was piracy or someone stole or hacked in and stole a copy, but current suspicions point to CBS leaking it on purpose to gain support for the Kryptonian Kara Zor-El. this is quite possibly true. when the extended Supergirl trailer released last week, the fans went crazy and it trended for more than 2 days on twitter.  CBS ordered the series without the usual process of screening/ testing the pilot. was CBS that confident to intentionally leak the Supergirl pilot online? apparently, the pilot that can be screened online from questionable sources, has no watermark, which suggests, but does not confirm, that the Supergirl pilot was intentionally leaked. a watermark is that semi-transparent “symbol” or “decal” denoting “CBS” or “for internal use only” or “for awards purposes only” or “for promotional use only” or similar, claiming the channel who created and aired the episode and that this version is not to be released to the public. incidentally, about the same time last year, the pilot/ episode 1 to The Flash was leaked online.

where can you watch the Supergirl pilot? there are some questionable streaming services that may contain viruses or you can pirate it using torrents, but watch the trailer, see how cool it is, then wait ’til November and support this great superhero show so we can have a full season of great superhero television; this will encourage networks to produce even more new superhero tv.

don’t forget to demand a crossover of ‘The Flash,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Legends of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Blackbirds’ (formerly called, ‘Titans,’ about DC comics ‘Teen Titans’ on TNT fall 2015) from @CBS @CW_TheFlash @CW_Arrow @supergirlcbs @TheCw_Legends (Legends of Tomorrow), Marc Guggenheim @mguggenheim (writer/producer/ creator) Greg Berlanti @GBerlanti (producer/ creator), Andrew Kreisberg @AJKeisberg (producer/ creator).

i love the trailer, and can’t wait for the series this November, i’m sure you will love it too.

watch the Supergirl trailer here:

‘TITANS’ now called ‘Blackbirds’ tv series gets a cast of heroes. TNT’s tv show is based on the ‘Teen Titans’ comic book

Raven-Widescreen-femme-fatales-20147379-1920-1200Raven.

Oracle_0005Barbara Gordon. although not officially a part of Teen Titans. her role on this tv series will be computer hacker. timeline wise, after ‘Killing Joke’ when, Barbara Gordon, Batgirl, was shot by the Joker, after he discovered her true identity. now confined to a wheelchair, she reinvents herself, utilizes her many other skills, including computer hacking & online support for other superheroes; (the inspiration for tv’s ‘Arrow’s’ Felicity Smoak (Felicity existed in the comics, but was more of a hacker than the ‘eyes and ears’ of superheroes). although, for some reason TNT will not be calling Barbara Gordon Oracle, as was her title in the comics. Barabara Gordon is also romantically involved with Dick Grayson/ Robin/ Nightwing; whether that relationship is already established, we don’t yet know.

if the series is successful, Beast Boy may appear on the show, but no mention if he is even being considered at this time. Cyborg, however, may never appear, as he will be appearing in the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe ‘Batman v Superman,’ ‘Justice League’ and even the ‘Cyborg’ solo movie. rumors from Warner Bros. exec’s hint at not wanting to muddle the character with a different actor and possibly different origin stories and disparate character development. this is unconfirmed as of yet, but DC/Warner Bros. has confirmed DC’s top 3 will not be appearing in future television shows, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. speculation is already swarming as to whether ‘TITANS’ will have crossovers with upcoming CBS’s ‘Supergirl’ and CW’s ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’ tv shows. also, ‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ share a common creator, Berlanti. also, TNT, CBS and the CW are owned by parent company Warner Bros., so technically, it’s possible, but unlikely. CBS exec even directly refuted this rumor, stating CBS is an entirely different network than the CW and a crossover is unheard of. but that doesn’t mean we, the fans, have to sit idly by and let this crossover possibility pass us by. rise up comic book fans! get up, stand up and tweet the crap out of @TNT @CBS @CW_Arrow @CW_TheFlash  @GBerlanti (creator of ‘Arrow, ‘The Flash,’ and upcoming ‘Supergirl.’) @mguggenheim (writer of ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’) and demand a crossover. believe it or not, they actually do listen.

the hopeful airing of the ‘TITANS,’ now called “Blackbirds,’ tv series will be fall 2015. no actors have been cast yet and TNT has yet to approve the series, which they will do upon the completion of the pilot.

more to come..

the end of S.H.I.E.L.D.? in [Captain America : the Winter Soldier] what about Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

6Captain-America-The-Winter-Soldier-Poster

oooo, ya, • SPOILER ALERT • sorry, well not really, you should have already seen it opening weekend. the only acceptable excuse for not seeing Captain America: the Winter Soldier opening weekend, or any Marvel movie, would be…perhaps underground ferret hunting in Bosnia while being chased by giant robots. but as that is highly unlikely for most of us, your excuse is invalid. IT’S CAPTAIN AMERICA! ok, i’m calm now..

the action in this movie is unprecedented. the Nick Fury street scene was probably the most amazing action sequence i have ever seen. it definitely harkens back to “the bank scene,” from Heat. this is the scene that stands out the most. there are many action sequences in this film, all of them amazing.

HYDRA. THANOS. INFINITY STONES and new “mutants.”

if you don’t know what Hydra is, watch the first Captain America movie again, they explain it’s origins; it’s creation during World War II by Agent Smith, i mean, Red Skull, under the Nazi Regime. Also, i should mention, in the first Captain America film, (Captain America: the First Avenger), Red Skull found the Tesseract in Norway, one of the Infinity Stones, this one from Asgard, yeah, that’s where Thor is from. confused? well you just have to pat attention, because if you don’t, you will be really lost on august 1st. what? you don’t know why august 1st is the most pivotal day in superhero cinematic history? GUARDIANS of the GALAXY of course! yes, add that to your iCal & google drive/docs/whatever right now. why? THANOS is why. THANOS. OMG, really? Thanos was born on titan, he genetically enhanced himself to make him uber powerful. he fell in love with Lady Death & killed most of his race to impress her. then he found the cosmic cube, making him virtually omnipotent (as a side note: in doing so, killing Drax the Destroyer’s parents, and yes, Drax is one of the Guardians of the Galaxy). Thanos’ quest for ultimate power and his will to kill all living things to impress Lady Death, yes it really does matter who you chose to date, features the creation of the Infinity Gauntlet, that’s a plate-mail glove, like knights used to wear, do i have to explain everything? anyway, the Infinity Gauntlet is gold and when fitted with all of the Infinity Stones grants the wearer power great enough to destroy the universe. the Tesseract is one Infinity Stone and in Thor 2: the Dark World (you know, with the dark elves), we see the another Infinity Stone, the Aether. at the end of the movie, during the final credits scene, we meet The Collector, as Lady Sif and Thor deliver the Aether to him for safe keeping. The Collector is immortal and omnipotent, but became complacent and rather bored with his long existence, so he began to collect things, rare things, and once he had one of an item, he just had to have all of whatever it was to complete the collection, hence the name, ‘the collector.’ now, the Aether was actually not the second Infinity Stone that we have seen in the Marvel movie universe. in the Avengers, we had several sneak peaks to what was to come. we see Thanos, briefly and shrouded. he was the one that Loki kneeled to; the one that rescued Loki from the the frost giant world of Jotunheim (pronounced “yo-den-hi mm”), gave him command of the Chitauri army and, most importantly, a staff of power with, yes, you guessed it, wait-what? you didn’t guess? grrrrr-another Infinity Stone. so that’s three Infinity Stones three more to go. so yes, we will see Thanos in full action for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, yes AUGUST 1ST!, and we will see more Infinity Stones and more of the Collector. but we wont get to see the Infinity Gauntlet in full form until the Avengers3, yes we have to wait a while, a long while, probably until 2018 😦

cap-the-winter-soldier-shield-610x378

ok, bad to our story, Captain America: the Winter Soldier. for the credits preview scene (there were two, one mid-credits, and one at the very end, after you discover they filmed a lot of the movie in Ohio of places, and yes, we yelled out “OHIO,” with fist in the air, just like from the Drew Carey show, when we first saw that.) the mid-credit scene showed a secret Hydra base, future Hydra villain Baron von Stucker (former nazi, who has slowed his aging process) and human experimentation using, yes, Loki’s staff and the second Infinity Stone. as you probably guessed by now, Thanos really wants that stone back and is really going to make Loki suffer for failing him and losing the staff. it wont matter that Loki is cloaked, appearing as Odin, in Asgard, Thanos will find him (he actually threatened Loki, saying just that, in the Avengers). now that the Red Skull is gone, in the Marvel cinematic universe, other Captain America villains will arise like Stucker or Vemo or … actually, there are quite a few. i know, i know, i’m getting to it, who were those last surviving people in the cells? or the”twins,” as they were referred to in the mid-credit scene? well, i need to explain what has happened irl, (in real life), with Marvel and Marvel Movies. Marvel almost went under for a second time in the late 90’s. several things happened to save them. Disney ended buying Marvel and the Marvel Universe, Sony bought the exclusive movie rights to Spider-man and, more importantly, to this story, Fox bought the rights to not only, the X-men, but also mutants, and every type of mutant and even the use of the word “mutant.” sooo, that means that no mutants or X-men can ever appear in Marvel movies, (also no Spidey). this is detrimental to how superheroes work. imagine a world where a story is told where there were only police and no firemen or EMT’s, they need each other to face each threat and disaster and save lives. so so sooo, back to the mid-credit scene, Marvel, it seems, has developed a way to create mutants, without actually being mutants, genetic disposition that manifests during puberty or is otherwise activated. so so so soooo….drum roll…the two “twins,” were QUICKSILVER, who is kinda like the Flash, and  SCARLET WITCH, one of the most awesome female mutants/avengers/super heroines of all time. she has really awesome powers, is such a fascinating character and has a dark quality as well, that makes her really interesting. in the comics, QUICKSILVER and SCARLET WITCH are the children of Magneto, thus genetically inheriting mutant powers. i’ll do a separate post on the coolness of Wanda Maximoff, aka the SCARLET WITCH, so you can fully understand her. ok, i’ll do one on QUICKSILVER as well, mostly because he will be featured in the upcoming Fox X-men movie, with a different actor than the one playing Quicksilver in the future Marvel movies. how is that legally possible? Quicksilver is a mutant, therefore is now owned by Fox, but both Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were both Avengers in the comic series, so they kinda fall into two legal categories, “mutant” and “avenger.” and thanks loads stoopid lawyers for making this so confusing. can’t we all just get along & make superhero as they should be made?

HYDRA  and the Fall of S.H.I.E.L.D.

what will happen to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? (& damn it Stan Lee for making S.H.I.E.L.D. so hard to type, every time, SHIFT period, SHIFT period, SHIFT period, ugh~~). will they be canceling the prime time tv show on abc now? what? i didn’t cover what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. (ugh ~~) in Captain America:the Winter Soldier yet? ooops. ok, here’s what happened. in the Avengers, there was a scene where you saw the HYDRA symbol on crates in the weapons cache (the HYDRA symbol is that of an actual hydra, with tentacles, but with a skull, like the one from ancient Greece, where, as part of the 12 tasks of Hercules, Hercules attempted to slay the beast by chopping off its many heads; as he did so, two heads grew back in its place.). so, if you were paying attention, you knew HYDRA was coming, maybe not in the form of essentially destroying S.H.I.E.L.D. so what happens now? (and yes, i started two sentences in a row with “so,” so?) so what happens to Agent Coulson and tv’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? (and yes i did it again, but it really work there did it?). last fall we saw Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. incorporate into the Thor 2:  the dark world plot line. will they be doing this again? they can’t. why? they just brought Agent Coulson back from the dead, they can’t disband S.H.I.E.L.D. on tv and tear away a character we have grown to love. so (yep..) don’t believe the hype, the series will continue, just with deception, duplicity and hopefully more Marvel movie action. for everyone who has complained that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is boring, well get ready, because leading up to and including, the final episode, is said to be “riveting.”

Hydra_logo

oh ok, i’ll tell you what happened in the Winter Soldier.. (i did mention spoiler alert already, right?) S.H.I.E.L.D. was infiltrated by HYDRA, from the highest ranking official (Pierce, not Nick Fury of course) down to the average agent. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s new helicarriers were designed to eliminate threats from high altitude, low-earth orbit, using a sophisticated satellite network. HYDRA’s plan was to take over this network and eliminate threats before they happen, by profiling potential human threats, 20 million of them, using Zola’s algorithm and killing them. Captain America demanded nick Fury end S.H.I.E.L.D. so that HYDRA will never again take over and have that much power. the flaw in this plan is that HYDRA could just as easily infiltrate other organizations, like the CIA or the FBI, and may have done so already. Hydra will still continue, but now S.H.I.E.L.D. is not there to stop them. but it was a nice twist to see in the film. they set it up for Nick Fury to be a regular, hands-on agent again; i’m really looking forward to seeing that. i wonder if A.I.M. will ever be incorporated into the movies or tv Marvel world (maybe with Project Centepede)? (A.I.M. is a group of villainous scientists similar to HYDRA). also to note: it was hinted in the film that Natasha Romanov BLACK WIDOW’s ‘checkered past’ may come to light. i think they mean how she worked for HYDRA in the past. to me, this is setting the stage for a stand alone BLACK WIDOW movie, which i would be very excited about seeing, not just for Scarlet Johansson, but also for Widow’s relationship with HAWKEYE. i’m still not clear how this segways into S.W.O.R.D. and Abigale Brand (hopefully future movies will cover ‘Secret Invasion’ & Spiderwoman/Jessica Drew; really, REALLY hope so). there is just so much material Marvel can draw from to create movies, and by the way, they have made movie plans through 2028, so pay attention in each film, they will hint at future films.

so go see Captain America : the Winter Soldier, if you haven’t already; see it in XD sound, as well as in 3D, so you can hear the vibranium reverb effect from Captain America’s shield. did you want to know the future of Captain America, Thanos & the Winter Soldier? stay tuned to my blog, youtube & twitter, and i just might tell you, hint: Captain America 3 will be epic, but nothing can prepare you for the events that will transpire in Avengers 3.

the only thing that would have made this movie better, when Captain America was falling from an impossible height, from a crashing helicarrier (but this time onto pavement, not water), Ironman appears out of nowhere, catching him before he hits the ground. that’s the kind of cross over Marvel often plays, and it would have been uber amazing to see it on film. although, a scene like that may have caused geeks everywhere to spontaneously explode, so maybe they didn’t add a scene like that to preserve the geek population. well played Marvel, well played.
