#TeenTitans #TheJudasContract #movie #review #Terra & more..

teen-titans-the-judas-contract-cast-600x338-227248-1280x0This animated film is very well done and continues in the same universe as ‘Son of Batman’ and ‘Justice League vs Teen Titans.’ Not for all ages cartoon, due to cursing and violence. ‘Teen Titans: The Judas Contract’ is an adapted version on the 1984 comic of the same name, with a few tweaks to the story that fit with the characters & current Teen Titans team. It helps to have a solid base for the characters and build-up to the story, ‘The Judas Contract,’ otherwise this film might seem a bit out of place. It seems incomplete to have a great story about the Teen Titans and not to have Cyborg. Limited research showed that this was due to Warner Bros wanting to have Cyborg solely associated with The Justice League for the upcoming live-action movie than with the animated Teen Titans. Cyborg has appeared in this animated film universe before, like ‘JusticeLeague: Doom’ & ‘Teen Titans vs Justice League’ movies, but as a member of The Justice League. So I guess Warner Bros have decided Cyborg is Justice League only, which is too bad, because he is such a crucial member of Teen Titans. ‘The Judas Contract’ story first appeared in animation on the ever popular Teen Titans cartoon, which is still a great, light-hearted series.

Terra_09My main problem with this animated feature was the Terra storyline. It felt wildly inappropriate to have a young teenager (13?), Terra, wanting to date a 55 year-old man, Deathstroke; I just felt weirded out with every scene. Were they actually sleeping together? Did I miss that? Even creepier, WTF DC? But I guess since it was in the comics it makes it somehow OK? Nope, still not OK.

(Spoilers) Towards the end, it would have been nice to see Terra turn around & attack Slade, motivated by her own moral compass, saving the Titans at the last moment, instead of solely acting out of revenge, focusing only on killing Deathstroke, all while not caring for the well being of The Titans at all. She could have at least made them a tunnel to the surface, protecting the Titans from the collapsing underground cavern Temple of the Brother Blood Cult. Also, there was no clear explanation of how exactly The Titans escaped this disaster.

maxresdefault (1)Deathstroke returns (spoiler) as the main villain. You may remember he was killed by Damian at the end of ’Son of Batman,’ which was poorly done, by the way. Deathstroke shot at Damien several times, from just 20 feet away, and missed every time! In the comics, Deathstroke, with the help of the serum, gave him metahuman abilities, like shooting The Flash in the knee, as Barry was running full speed. There’s absolutely no reason Deathstroke should have missed at such close range. Anyway, Deathstroke has since been revived from the dead, with the use of Lazarus Pits, and appears in this animated film to exact his revenge on Damien. I think it would have been easier to have just shot Damien with a sniper rifle, but Slade chose an elaborate plan, with years of preparation, bringing the rest of the Titans down at the same time, all while getting paid for it by Brother Blood instead.

asdStarfire was, again, over sexualized & it is a bit odd, that the leader of the Titans, Starfire/Kori, no longer lives in the Tower; seems like bad leadership skills, which was a recurring theme in this film.

pre_TitansIt was great to see Bumble Bee in the beginning flashback sequence and it’s exciting that Wonder Girl, Donna Troy, will be joining The Titans in future DC animated movies (spoilers).

Wonder_Girl_Donna_Troy3CONCLUSION: ’Teen Titans: The Judas Contract’ was a good film & you should WATCH IT; I just wish Terra’s storyline was better crafted. IMPORTANT NOTE: There’s an end credit scene, so watch through the credits.

‘Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice’ Movie Easter Eggs Explained. Spoilers DO NOT READ. Review Recap. Bruce’s Dream Explained in ‘BvS’ Film.

Bruce’s Dream. (do not read, contains spoilers). If you just watched ‘Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice,’ you may be wondering (spoilers beyond this point..) what Lex Luthor meant when Batman was is in the jail cell with him, Who’s coming? What threat? You may have also forgotten Bruce’s Dream and it’s meaning. An apocalyptic world where Desert Batman is fighting soldiers with Superman logos, representing some fascist regime. Winged creatures then appear from the sky picking up downed resistance fighters and carry them away. Superman enters, kills two resistance fighters and de-masks Desert Batman. What is happening here? The answer lies in the next scene, “someone” appears (in time travel tunnel) and shouts to Bruce: “If she dies, then it’s over. She must survive.” Bruce wakes up at his desk. Much later, Bruce changes his mind about killing Superman rather suddenly without any reasonable justifiable cause. Was this just a “bad script” like so many critics have penned on their initial reviews? Or did Bruce put the pieces together and realize that if he didn’t save “her,” Martha Kent (not Martha Wayne), then apocalypse would come to Earth, and by “apocalypse,” I actually mean Apokolips. YES! Darkseid is coming and all of his flying minions from his home planet Apokolips. Darkseid is a Superman villain I have been waiting, expecting, hoping to see in Superman films since the Brandon Routh / Bryan Singer ‘Superman Returns.’ Yes, when Lex Luthor gained control of the Kryptonian ship (from ‘Man of Steel’) by using dead General Zod’s skinned finger prints; “..You now have full access to Kryptonian data on 100,000 worlds,” Kryptonian ship computer voice. If you connect this with the exact words Lex Luthor said to Batman in the jail cell at the end, Lex Luthor called Darkseid and basically said Dakseid and the Minions of Apokolis are on their way. Does this mean we will see more of the Apokolip-tic future, where Superman has sided with Darkseid in the upcoming ‘Justice League’ movie and the bleak, dystopian future will be unwritten by future Flash time traveling into Bruce’s dream, yelling “Save her Bruce?” Yes, yes it does. The plot to the ‘Justice League’ film has just been revealed. I mentioned there were spoilers, right? Also, we see Wonder Woman in all her glory; I think she could have taken Doomsday all by herself, after all she did mention, “I have taken on and beaten many mythical beasts” (ok, paraphrasing that one..). Wonder Woman did cut off Doomsday’s hand after all, she can block Doomsday’s energy beam with shield and bracelets (although Zack Snyder’s Doomsday does look a lot like Wraith, but Lex Luthor did say, (to Superman) “This is your Doomsday.”). Even Wonder Woman’s lasso of badassness (or Truth) can constrain Doomsday. She could take him. Also, also in the ‘Batman v Superman’ movie, yep, more spoilers, we see film clips, collected by LexCorp, of Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman, Ezra Miller’s The Flash and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg. The final words of Bruce Wayne / Batman (yes, Bruce Wayne is Batman, was that a spoiler too?) to Diana Prince / Wonder Woman was about (yep, out of quotes; that’s a lot to memorize) finding these “others like you, we will need them to fight.” “What makes you sure they will fight?” “They will, when they know what’s coming..” So recruitment is also part of the beginning plot of the upcoming ‘Justice League‘ film. So, you’re saying to yourself, who won? Batman or Superman? Was there really ever a question? Batman is smarter (hence geekier), therefore The Bats always wins; he actually did, in the movie, spoiled again, but that’s not what this post is about; it’s about Bruce’s Dream and the future of the DC comic superhero Universe, or, The DCU. A major geek-out moment for me was when Bruce Wayne walked past a Robin suit, with The Joker’s signature “HAHAHAHA” written in yellow paint. Yes, that’s a hint to Jason Todd’s Robin, who was killed by The Joker, but was later brought back to life via a Lazarus Pit, by Ra’s Al-Ghul. Jason, then, returned to Gotham City, but as the vigilante, The Red Hood, one of the most awesome characters in the DC Universe. Also, I did not see Jena Malone, originally leaked as playing Robin (Carrie Kelly), but more recently billed as ‘Batgirl,’ but I may have just missed her entirely, as there was a lot going on in ‘Batman v Superman.’ I’m sure the additional 60min Zack Snyder says is awaiting us when we buy the R-rated bluray version has Jena Malone and who knows what else? Dun-duhn-DUHNNNN! I am also secretly hoping that the extra 60min includes Mercy (Mercy Graves is played by Tao Okamoto in ‘BvS’) somehow escaping the explosion and living to star in future DC superhero films, just because her character is awesome; OMG another spoiler 😐

Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice‘ movie premieres March 25 2016 (or midnight showing at 6pm Pacific Time on March 24th 2016). Should you go see it in the theatre? Yes, it’s worth the extra theater-going cash. Am I going to buy the bluray? I plan on renting/borrowing.

Wonder Woman‘ solo film premieres Jun 23 2017 (the plot takes place during World War I (or ‘The Great War’), just like in the photo of Diana and her crew that included Steve Trevor (love interest), played by Chris Pine, that Lex Luthor had on his hard drive (ok, that was the last spoiler).

Justice League‘ film premieres November 17 2017, that’s only a year and a half away, not 3 years apart, like the Dark Knight series.

really disappointed Captain Marvel movie is being pushed back ’til 2019 in favor of Antman sequel ‘Antman and The Wasp

The world needs more empowered women superheroes. Marvel comics is full of iconic empowered women, why would Marvel/Disney delay such a great opportunity? Is it because Kevin Feige is no longer in charge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Is Disney just counting on guaranteed sequel money from Antman 2? Yes, audiences will watch a sequel to Antman in theatres, but take a chance Disney on an empowered woman superhero, who is actually quite amazing in her own right, in an awesome comic, written by Kelly Sue DeConnick. DC / Warner Brothers is bringing us Wonder Woman next year, with ‘Batman v Superman,’ and a ‘Wonder Woman’ solo film in 2017, why can’t Marvel / Disney bring us a ‘Captain Marvel’ film sooner than 2019?

Supergirl Trailer : Sometimes we all just need a little (House of El Coat of Arms) Hope

Supergirl, we need more empowered women superheroes on tv, and CBS is giving us just that, monday nights 8pm, November 2015. watch this amazing trailer for Supergirl:

Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, Kal-El’s (Superman’s) cousin, is also from the planet Krypton, with the same Red Sun. Supergirl works for a news agency in National City alongside photographer James Olsen, while donning the familiar glasses disguise. Super fun fact: Kara’s adopted parents are played by Helen Slater, who played Kara, in the 1984 ‘Supergirl’ movie and Dean Cain, who played Superman, on the ‘Lois & Clark’ television series. Supergirl is played by actress Melissa Benoist and the show is created by Berlanti Productions, the same group that gave us ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash.’ CBS executives have denied rumors of a crossover, but Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow are all DC Comics characters, all owned by Warner Bros, who owns CBS and The CW, so a crossover is possible, and we the fans can always berate them on twitter until they give us the Supergirl-Flash-Arrow crossover, hint, hint 😉
